Cemented carbide is a hard material composed of refractory metal hard compounds and bonded metals, produced by powder metallurgy method, with high wear resistance and certain toughness. Due to its excellent properties, cemented carbide is widely used in cutting, wear-resistant parts, mining, geological drilling, oil mining, mechanical parts and other fields.
The production process of paraffin technology cemented carbide is generally as below:
① Refractory metal hard compounds (tungsten carbide, tantalum carbide, etc.), bonded metal (cobalt powder or nickel powder) and a small amount of additives (stearic acid or esomine) are mixed and ground in hexane grinding medium, paraffin slurry is added, and then vacuum drying (or spray drying), sifting, granulating, wax-doped mixture is made.
② The wax-doped mixture has been identified and qualified, and it’s made into high-precision compact after precision pressing;
③ The compact is made to be cemented carbide products by vacuum dewaxing sintering process or pressure sintering process.
